HISTORY

Ms. Denise and Ms. LindaA Child’s Place was founded by Linda & Gregory Coles in 1983 after being inspired by their 4 year old daughter Denice Coles.  Ms. Linda Coles was determined to have her daughter in a loving and nurturing environment where she would also learn.  Due to the fact that Ms. Coles was unable to find a suitable program, she began her own.

Years later The Coles have continued to build their dreams while staying focused on providing a loving and nurturing educational program.  After graduating from St. John’s University, Ms. Denice Coles joined her parents in building and continuing to develop the school and services of A Child’s Place Day School.

Denice Coles is now the Educational director of the nursery, pre-school and day school. She continues to further her education by obtaining her master’s degree. She carries on the family tradition by utilizing A Child’s Place to educate her first born son, who has attended the program since he was 3 months old.

A Child's Place was the site of a press conference with Senator Hilary Clinton, advocating for stronger day care funding and representation. The Coles have received many awards from community programs, such as the one given by Assemblyman Jeffrion Aubry at an economic development conference in Albany.

The Coles only son, Brandon, recently graduated Delaware State University, an accredited HBCU, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Brandon has joined his family at A Child’s Place as the new Financial Supervisor.
