 EMERGENCY FIRST AID & PROCEDURES

During enrollment, each family provides all emergency information pertaining to their child this includes consent if your child experiences emergency illness or injury. This information should be updated once a year. There are employees on each floor, including the directors, which are trained in first aid and CPR.

In case of an emergency A Child’s Place will take the following steps:

  1. If the child is believed to be contagious they will be immediately separated from the other children.
  2. In cases where the child is ill: has fever under 102 degrees, vomiting or other symptoms of mild illness, the parents/guardians or emergency contact will be contacted to pick child up.
  3. In cases where the child has a fever of 103 degrees or above, the child is bleeding immensely or cannot breathe, the director will call 911 or appropriate emergency help, then parents and guardians, in that order. The child’s physician may be called if necessary.
  4. First aid and/or CPR will be administered if necessary.
  5.  Ice packs and other first aid supplies are located in each classroom for use if necessary.
  6. Emergencies  must be taken care of in this order:
      • Breathing has top priority. Clearing airways.
      • Stopping any bleeding has second priority.
      • Treat for shock after the breathing and bleeding have been dealt with.
