Dear Parents/Guardians:
A
Child’s Place is doing our very best to take all possible
precautions to keep our children healthy during this flu season. We
would like to thank all the families that have donated Clorox wipes
& spray, tissues, hand
sanitizer, etc. please continue with those donations as we will need them throughout the winter. We are
encouraging
children to keep their hands clean throughout the day and we have been
teaching children the proper hand washing techniques. Students are not
mandated to receive the H1N1 vaccine at this time, however, we do ask
that if your child receives the vaccine that you inform us so that we
will be able to keep a close eye out for any side effects of the
vaccine. We ask that parents do the following to help us in the fight
against germs & sickness:
*Please keep children home if they show any of the following SIGNS OF ILLNESS:
*fever, runny nose (yellow or green in color), extreme or unusual fatigue, sore throat, pink/red eyes, dark urine or stool, constipation or diarrhea, severe coughing, etc. Please see DOH Signs of Illness posters around the school for additional symptoms.
*Please sanitize or wash your hands & your child’s hands before entering any classroom.
*Please only allow 1 parent to enter the infant/toddler classroom when picking up & dropping off. Please do not handle any toys or other children while in the classroom & please exit quickly.
*Please encourage children to wash hands regularly and frequently at home.
*Teachers will ask parents of children that appear sick to immediately take children home.
Children will not be allowed back in school without a note from the doctor. Please be patient as this is only being implemented to keep children healthy and to help children that may be getting sick to get diagnosed and treated as early as possible.
*Please send healthy snacks such as fruit and other snacks high in vitamin C. This will help keep your child's immune system strong and healthy.
*Please dress children warm and send warm blankets for nap time. We will take children outside
regularly for healthy fresh air and to sanitize and get fresh air in the classrooms during the day.
A Child’s Place Student Sickness Procedure:
*Parents will be immediately contacted if a child shows any signs of illness.
*In the event that a child shows serious signs of illness of any kind, upon the director’s judgment, EMS will be called.
*A director or supervisor will notify the parent that EMS has been contacted and provide information regarding the
hospital where the child will be cared for. A Director or supervisor will accompany the child to the hospital until a
parent/guardian arrives.
*We expect that parents/guardians make their best effort to reach the hospital in a timely manner. In the case that
children
are left at the hospital for long periods of time or a parent/guardian
cannot be reached for long periods of time, the Administration for
Children’s Services will be contacted. All phone numbers and
emergency contact numbers must remain updated and parents must make
their children’s health their first priority.
We thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation Please help to keep our schools healthy.
Thank you,
Ms. Denice Coles
Director
