 PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Teachers will schedule a parent meeting twice during the school year. These meetings are mandatory for all parents to discuss their child’s classroom progress. There should be a list of prepared questions that a parents/guardian should ask the teacher. The questions should be along the following lines:

  1. Does our child seem happy in school? What are his/her special interests and strengths?
  2. How does our child interact with others?
  3. Are provisions made for students to learn at their own pace?
  4. What can we do to help our child develop his or her talents?

If you have had disagreements in the past with the teachers ask the following questions:

  1. What do you think each of us can do so we will work together smoothly this year?
  2. Can we avoid involving my child in our differences?
  3. Can we find some areas of agreement on how to help my child succeed in school?
  4. Would you please give me your views on our areas of disagreement?
  5. May I tell you why I don’t agree with your views on ______?

If you feel it may be difficult for you and the teacher to have an effective conference, please ask the director to be present at your conference.
