PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Teachers will schedule a parent meeting twice during the school year. These meetings are mandatory for all parents to discuss their child’s classroom progress. There should be a list of prepared questions that a parents/guardian should ask the teacher. The questions should be along the following lines:
- Does our child seem happy in school? What are his/her special interests and strengths?
- How does our child interact with others?
- Are provisions made for students to learn at their own pace?
- What can we do to help our child develop his or her talents?
If you have had disagreements in the past with the teachers ask the following questions:
- What do you think each of us can do so we will work together smoothly this year?
- Can we avoid involving my child in our differences?
- Can we find some areas of agreement on how to help my child succeed in school?
- Would you please give me your views on our areas of disagreement?
- May I tell you why I don’t agree with your views on ______?
If you feel it may be difficult for you and the teacher to have an effective conference, please ask the director to be present at your conference.
