A Child’s Place Parent Participation Policy

The mission of A Child’s Place is to partner with families to provide a healthy upbringing. We strive to partner with families to give children the best quality education. In an effort to achieve this goal it is important for parents to be active participants in their child’s education.

Therefore, A Child’s Place requires that all families make a commitment to enriching their child’s school

experience by volunteering their time, fundraising efforts or additional fees to help provide additional support,  school activities & equipment.

The policy for parent participation at A Child’s Place is as follows:

Each year, every family will be responsible for 150 participation credits. These credits may be completed when parents participate in school activities, school trips or classroom volunteer work. Every half hour of participation is equal to 10 credits, therefore, each family is responsible for at least 7.5 hours of parent participation. In-school participation can be as little as 15 minutes up to 1 hour each day, and parents must contact the teacher to arrange for scheduled volunteer times. Unscheduled times may not be honored if other scheduled parents are in the classrooms, we want all activities to be structured and enjoyable for the children. Too many adults in the room can be overwhelming for the children. Parent volunteer activities will be posted on the HELP WANTED board near the elevator. Parents may volunteer in their child’s class or any class in need of volunteers, school volunteer opportunities (out of classroom volunteer work) will be posted as well.

These credits are per family, not per child and the participation hours must

be completed by the parent/guardian with whom the child(ren) are registered.

Families may also complete credits by raising 150 fundraising dollars during our annual fundraising activities, candy sale or Easter catalogue sale.

Lastly, families that are not able to give of their time or fundraising efforts can pay $150 to compensate for the 150 credits.

Each family will be billed for the $150 participation credits at the beginning of the school year. As parents complete the hours the credits/dollars will be deducted from the balance. As parent volunteers enter the school they must sign the parent participation log. This log must be signed by the parent and a front desk

administrator, along with the time you arrived and exited the building to receive credit for up to 1 hour of

participation per day.
