WHAT TO WEAR TO SCHOOL
Think of your child’s comfort- and provide simple clothing that is free of complicated fastenings. Think of the messy art materials and other messy activities and provide clothing that is washable. Think of our playground- and provide clothing that is sturdy. Think of the changeable weather (and the fact that even though it may be bright and sunny at 9am it may be cloudy and cool by 10am) and dress your child appropriately. Provide sweaters and jackets, even on the first sunny fall days. It’s much easier to remove an unneeded item than be without it.
Think of your child’s comfort and provide your child with long pants from at least mid-October through about mid-April, although they are appropriate during other months as well.
Think of how you would feel playing outdoors in wet, cold and windy weather. For your child’s own comfort, provide suitable head covering when needed. A light weight sweater should be worn under rain coats. Avoid sending sweaters or jackets with drawstrings. Drawstrings can cause possible choking incidents.
Finally, think of our collection of unlabeled, unclaimed clothing and put labels on all outer garments, including hats and boots.
No open sandals please, this will prevent dirt, gravel, sand and stubbed toes.
All children in Pre-kindergarten and grade school must wear a uniform to school everyday. The purpose of the uniform is to create uniformity and a sense of community amongst the students. It is important that parents help children to learn to follow the school rules by following the rules as well. We are aware that the children do not dress themselves, therefore we hold the parents responsible equally responsible for making sure children come to school in the complete uniform. Children that are constantly out of uniform will have mild consequences. All children that wear uniforms to school must also wear the A Child’s Place gym uniform: blue sweat pants ACP sweat shirt or ACP tee-shirt.
Extra clothing
If your child is prone to having toilet accidents, it is a good idea to leave a complete extra set of clothing at the center. Remember to change size around about January/February. Please remember to replenish clothes after child has used spear set. Any child that does not have extra clothing will be given ACP clothes. These clothes are brand new and parents will be billed for the price of the clothing when they come to pick up the child.
